LIGHT SHINING ON THE SEVEN STARs

Painted in April and May of 2026 “Light Shining on the Seven Stars” is a wrap around mural on a reclaimed oil tank in the heart of the warehouse district of Durham, NC at Wye Junction Park. The artwork is a history of the city focusing on Durhams origins as a railroad town. The light from the engine shines over all that came before and after the railroad. Included are 65 references to places, events, peoples and ideas that built the city’s unique identity. The mural stands as a landmark for the park which will be the connection point between the warehouse district and the Rail Trail project being developed through the city. When facing the train, the viewer is headed towards the park and Rail Trail, when facing the “Durham Reknown” sign the viewer is headed toward the heart of downtown Durham.
